Bonz Bros. Riding on Vintage BMX

◼️このフレーム、運送屋さんから受け取り、箱を開けた途端に、一目で「あ。これは」と思ったのですよ……
　これはつい先日、数年がかりでBONZにやってきた（あまり騒ぎ立てませんでしたが、戦争とCOVID19による世界輸送は一時期理不尽なほどに混乱していたのです）4台のWEBCOのうちの一台。お客様の依頼で手配、輸入したものなので普段はブログには掲載されない入荷です。つまり予約入荷で、日本に来る前からオーナーが決まっている。そのようなフレームということですね。で、どうしてそれをここに掲載するのか？　というと、冒頭の「あ。これは」と思える特徴ある個体だったから（蓋を開けてみたら、というやつですね）。なのでオーナーの許可を得てここに掲載しています。

　で、みなさんはこのチーム・レプリカの個体をご覧になって、何かおもったりしませんか？

　わたしはこんなふうに思いました「あれ！　これってもしかして74じゃないか？　数は少ないけれど74にもチーム・レプリカは存在した。けれど74にウエブコ・ブルーがあったんだ！？　」と。

　理由は73、74の特徴である低温で施されたがゆえのクオリティーの低い（笑）ぼてっとした溶接痕。そして同じく造りが悪く内側面に形成痕が残ったヘッド・チューブとBBシェル。この2点をもってこれは74だなんて想うのです。どうです？　ひどいでしょう？　じゃなかった。違うでしょう。

こころなしか、見慣れたウエブコ・ブルーの色合いも違うような気がする。気のせいかもしれませんが、メタリックの粒子が粗い？　いや気のせいか？

　いかがでしょうか？　ちょっとおもしろい観点でしょ。これがもし’74だとすると、謎多きWEBCOのシリアル番号も少し理解が深まった気がするのです。そのようなことが、なんかうれしい きょうの眺め .

　ところでこのチーム・レプリカ「75を」と依頼いただいていたオーナーに「74かもしれない」とお話ししたところ「むしろ大好物です」とのご返答。若かりし頃のオーナーの「記憶の中のWEBCO」はかくして現実世界に降りてきたのです。オーナーもわたしも「なんか嬉しい」ムフフな落着なのでありました。

◼️そしてもうひとつ。4台入荷のうちの一本であるキャンディー・レッドの’77 TEAM REPLICAが、現在あたらしいオーナーを募集中です。リアのブレーキ・ブリッジにブレーキ穴のあるタイプですね。　WEBCO好きな貴兄に。

◾️When I received this frame from the delivery company and opened the box, I immediately thought, “Oh, this is it”…

This is one of four WEBCOs that arrived at BONZ a few years after it was shipped (we didn’t make much of a fuss about it, but global shipping was unreasonably chaotic for a time due to war and COVID19). It was arranged and imported at the request of a customer, so it is not usually featured on the blog. In other words, it was a pre-order, and the owner was decided before it came to Japan. That’s the kind of frame it is. So why am I posting it here? Well, it’s because it was a distinctive piece that made me think “Oh, this is it” (as in, when you open the lid). So I’m posting it here with the permission of the owner.

So, when you see this Team Replica, do you have any thoughts?

I thought, “Could this be a 74? There were a few Team Replicas in the 74. But there was a 74 in Webco Blue!?”

The reason is that the low-quality (lol) weld marks are characteristic of the 73 and 74, due to the low temperature welding. And the head tube and BB shell are also poorly made, with formation marks remaining on the inside. These two points lead me to believe that this is a 74.

What do you think?

The familiar Webco blue color seems different, I think. Maybe it’s just my imagination, but the metallic grain is coarse? Or is it just my imagination?

What do you think? This is my theory. It’s a bit of an interesting perspective, isn’t it? If this is a ‘74, I feel like I understand the mysterious Webco serial number a little better. It’s something that makes me happy. ……………. Such is my view today

By the way, when I asked the owner of this Team Replica, who had requested a 75, if a 74 would be okay, he replied, “That would be better.” Both the owner and I enjoyed this story of deduction.
